MLS Supporters’ Shield Formally Changes Hands!

Following the 1-0 victory over D.C., the MLS Supporters’ Shield trophy was presented to the team by the fans of the Nordecke amidst a cacophony of cheers, chants and applause. It was a truly special night indeed. Now… on to the 2008 MLS Cup Playoffs!

The Supporters’ Shield-winning Crew returns home to face rival D.C. United tonight, at Crew Stadium in the final regular season match of the season, following a 3-1 setback at New York last Saturday (Oct. 18). The Crew (16-7-6, 54 pts.) heads into tonight’s match looking to build momentum in its final match before the 2008 MLS Cup Playoffs, while D.C. United (11-14-4, 37 pts.) needs a win if it hopes to move past New York, which has 39 points, and into one of the final unclaimed playoff spots.
Thanks to their 3-1 victory over the New England Revolution tonight, the Kansas City Wizards have clinched fourth place in the Eastern Conference, and as a result, will be the Crew’s opponent in the first round of the 2008 MLS Cup Playoffs. The two teams will first meet at Community America Ballpark on Sat., Nov. 1 in Kansas City. The squads will play the return leg of the home-and-home series at Crew Stadium Sat., Nov. 8 at 7:30 p.m. Click here for tickets and more info.

Posted by: Crew Communications // Category: Crew Soccer Foundation, General NewsWe’d like to take a second to thank all of you who were able to make it out to the celebrity bartending event last night (Oct. 23) with Frankie Hejduk, Duncan Oughton, Jason Garey and the Crewzers at Brewsky’s Sports Bar, the Crew’s offical away game viewing headquarters. The night was a great success as we were able to raise several hundred dollars for the Crew Soccer Foundation!

Welcome To The Crew Casino & Lounge
Posted by: Crew Communications // Category: Crew Soccer FoundationThe Crew will hold its 2008 Team Awards Ceremony presented by adidas next Monday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. at Lifestyles Community Pavilion. This year’s festivities will once again feature a “Casino Night” for attendees immediately following the Awards Ceremony.
Rookie defender Andy Iro will be appearing on the Average Joe Sports Show tonight at 8 p.m. on ONN, the Crew’s regional TV broadcast partner and Ohio’s Channel for news, weather, sports and lifestyles programming. (The show is then repeated at 8:30, 11 and 11:30 p.m.) Meanwhile, tomorrow morning, Oct. 21, Pat Noonan will visit the CD101 Morning Show with Joe Jewett, Doctor Smith and Krista Kae at approx. 8:30 a.m.
