Preseason training began last week and Crew players and staff wasted no time in getting out and about to visit local community organizations. On Tuesday, Jan. 27, Adam Moffat met with 475 students at Schultz Elementary School in Delaware. He was greeted with Crew fans of all ages, including Principal Susann Sparks who donned a Crew jersey. Adam treated the crowd to a short talk on the importance of education and teamwork and delighted the students with an interactive skills demonstration.

On Friday, January 30, Steven Lenhart and Andy Iro braved the cold to visit the Milo-Grogan Boys & Girls Clubhouse in Columbus. In addition to speaking about important life skills, Steven and Andy worked with participants on dribbling, goaltending and shooting techniques. Rookie defender Andy Iro will be appearing on the Average Joe Sports Show tonight at 8 p.m. on ONN, the Crew’s regional TV broadcast partner and Ohio’s Channel for news, weather, sports and lifestyles programming. (The show is then repeated at 8:30, 11 and 11:30 p.m.) Meanwhile, tomorrow morning, Oct. 21, Pat Noonan will visit the CD101 Morning Show with Joe Jewett, Doctor Smith and Krista Kae at approx. 8:30 a.m.

Fresh off scoring his first professional goal in last Saturday’s (Sept. 6) win over the Revs, rookie defender Andy Iro will be appearing on the Average Joe Sports Show tonight at 8 with host Dan Fronczak on ONN. The Liverpool, England native has made 12 appearances with eight starts for the Crew this season, after being selected by Columbus in the first round (No. 6 overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft.
