Crew fans, don’t forget, Steve Sirk’s new book chronicling the Crew’s 2008 Championship season, through both his Notebook columns and new material, is currently rolling off the presses and the first copies are now in stock and available at Crew Stadium’s Crew Gear store, which is open 9-5 Monday-Friday. Sirk is generously donating a portion of the proceeds of all books sold there to the club’s charitable arm, the Crew Soccer Foundation.

Crew fans, the first round of auctions for “Soccer Aid VII,” a unique, fund-raising program of the Crew Soccer Foundation, are now live at “MLS Auctions!” The exciting program capitalizes on soccer fans’ passion for the sport to raise money for charity through the non-profit arm of Major League Soccer’s Columbus Crew, including its primary beneficiary, the Mid-Ohio Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The Crew’s charitable arm, The Crew Soccer Foundation, will host “An Evening of Soccer & Spirits,” featuring a runway show and scotch and wine tasting this Tuesday, August 4, from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Men’s Department of the Saks Fifth Avenue location at Polaris Fashion Mall (1350 Polaris Parkway, Columbus, OH 43240). Columbus Crew players and staff will be in attendance at the event, many of whom will be displaying the latest in fashion apparel from Saks Fifth Avenue. Tickets are available for $40 a person, with all proceeds supporting Crew Soccer Foundation programming for central Ohio youth and families. This morning at the Crew Soccer Foundation board meeting, 2007 Fan of the Year Andrew Goodrich presented the Crew Soccer Foundation and the Marine Corp’s Toys for Tots Program with a donation check of $250 each. Andrew created a fan-based pledge drive this season based on the Crew’s success, and it was a successful season indeed, which led to this generous donation. Thanks to Andrew and all the Crew fans out there who donated to this very worthwhile cause. Pictures are after the jump.

We’d like to take a second to thank all of you who were able to make it out to the celebrity bartending event last night (Oct. 23) with Frankie Hejduk, Duncan Oughton, Jason Garey and the Crewzers at Brewsky’s Sports Bar, the Crew’s offical away game viewing headquarters. The night was a great success as we were able to raise several hundred dollars for the Crew Soccer Foundation!

The Crew will hold its 2008 Team Awards Ceremony presented by adidas next Monday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. at Lifestyles Community Pavilion. This year’s festivities will once again feature a “Casino Night” for attendees immediately following the Awards Ceremony.
