After his two-assist contribution in last Thursday’s victory over Chicago, MVP candidate Guillermo Barros Schelotto has been honored with the final MLS Player of the Week honor for 2008 as he was voted the MLS Cup Playoffs Player of the Week. Last Thursday’s performance was the eighth match this season in which Guille has had two assists. The POTW honor is Guille’s fifth this season.

The hits just keep on coming for Crew playmaker Guillermo Barros Schelotto, who has been voted the MLS Player of the Week for Week 24 after his one goal, two assist masterpiece against New England last Saturday (Sept. 6). Schelotto’s performance helpedĀ improve the Crew to 13-6-4 (43 points) on the season and, giving themĀ a five-point lead atop the Eastern Conference. The Award is Schelotto’s fourth Player of the Week award of 2008 (Weeks 3, 17 & 22), after earning the honor twice in 2007. Crew midfielder Guillermo Barros Schelotto was voted as Major League Soccer’s Player of the Week for Week 22 of the 2008 season, after scoring a goal and tallying two assists in the Crew’s decisive 3-0 victory over Real Salt Lake last Saturday, Aug. 23, at Crew Stadium.
The Major League Soccer Player of the Week is selected each week of the MLS regular season by a panel of journalists from The North American Soccer Reporters (NASR).
